The men of CELC meet for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month
to examine their faith, study the Scripture and share their personal experiences as it
relates to today’s events.
A weekend men’s retreat is held every other year at Manidokan Retreat Center near
Harper’s Ferry, usually in October.
The Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America provides local, regional, and national gatherings on a regular basis. The women of CELC are encouraged to attend two yearly local WELCA “cluster” meetings, the annual Day of Renewal in January, and the yearly September retreat sponsored by the DE-MD Synodical Women’s Organization. CELC hosts the cluster meetings and Day of Renewal meetings on a rotating basis with other churches.
Both the Men’s and Women’s Ministries at CELC sponsor outreach activities that are open to participation by the entire congregation. These include projects within the church, volunteer days at Habitat for Humanity, and collecting, packing and delivering items for the Seafarer’s Boxes which are given to the seamen that come into the Baltimore harbor at Christmas time.
Thursday April 11, at 12:00 noon we will have a fun bingo. Bring a small prize in a bag marked man, lady or either. Come, all are welcome, bring a sandwich, drinks and dessert are provided. On May 9th we will have a guest speaker from Chesapeake Hearing. It will be an educational seminar about hearing and hearing loss. There will be no sales presentation.
PARENTS’ COFFEE BREAK
The first Sunday of each month, parents of Sunday School children are invited to gather in the narthex for coffee and conversation (and maybe some doughnuts) while their children are in Sunday School. This is a cooperative effort of the Outreach, Hospitality, and Education Ministry Teams.
Tabitha's Backpack is serving 41 children each week and can always use 1% white milk boxes, 100% juice boxes, and vegetables in any size. We would also like to receive main meal items with protein, such as chicken/tuna kits, chili, soup with meat, Chef Boyardee with meat, and individual peanut butter packets. Items may be placed in the school bus at the rear of the church. (Please note that the clear bin in the narthex goes to NCEON or Lutheran Mission Society.) If you would like to volunteer to deliver.
