Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church
The last Try-A-Tithe this year is December 1
So between now and then you have the opportunity...
"... to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving. " — 2 Corinthians 9:7 (MSG)
As Christians, we proclaim that God is the creator of the universe and everything in it - including the Earth and everything in and on it - even us. We understand that every¬thing belongs to God and we are the stewards (caretakers) of everything that God has entrusted to us, individually and corporately, including our time, energy, wisdom, bodies, money and other resources. And God calls and has freed us to participate in and with God's generosity for the health of the whole world. God has, is and always will bless us ¬enabling us to be a blessing.
"And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by al¬ways having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work" —2 Corinthians 9:8 (NRSV)
May our deliberations prompt a more generous gift of time, talent and/or treasure - one that exercises our faith and still allows joy in the gift! Please know that Christ Evan¬gelical Lutheran Church tries to model this same behavior in the creation and execution of our budget. We annually deliberate and decide to give offerings of love, support and partnership to local agencies as they carry and distribute those blessings into the com¬munity. And we tithe to our regional church body (the Delaware-Maryland Synod, and through them, we give to the national church body, the ELCA - thus supporting regional, national and international outreach, justice, and relief efforts).
If you are unable to participate on the designated Sunday, please do so on a nearby Sunday (before or after). Remember you can use the "Try-A-Tithe" envelope in your en¬velope box, or mark "Try-A-Tithe" on a pew envelope, or designate your one-time elec¬tronic gift to "Try-A-Tithe" or Tabitha's, or the Eva Listman Scholarship, or the Memorial or Building Funds (use the bulletin ORC barcode or the Donate link at www.celc1908.org.
