A Message from your Church Council

Dear Friends and Families,

The council is starting the year end process.  We are collecting budgets from the various committees and wrapping up details and projects that need to be completed by the end to of the year.  My goal is to have a preliminary year end report available for you review by the end of December.  This report will contain all of the reports from the committees, the proposed budget, and the year to date expenses thru November.  Final reports will be available at the annual meeting.  The council set January 16th as the date for the meeting.  I will get a formal letter out announcing the meeting in the next weeks.

I wanted to thank Marian Berry for agreeing to be a liaison to the council for NCEON.  This group provides support to local persons in need of assistance.  I also wanted to thank Gene Lloyd for his work on the advent cards.  The proceeds from these cards will go as an even split between Lutheran Hunger appeal, and NCEON.  Both organizations are down considerably in donations and will benefit greatly from our support.  I finally wanted to thank Thrivent for providing a donation of $2000.00 through the Care Abounds in Communities program for our fundraiser for Sarah Dennett.

As most of you know Joanie Schmidt has retired as our church secretary.  She has been our secretary for 11 years and has been a great help to me especially when we were without a pastor.  She ran the office by herself and handled phone calls, bulletins and the messenger, record keeping as well as may other secretarial duties.  She has been a great asset to the church and the congregation.  She has indicated that she will continue to worship with us so please take some time to thank her for her hard work.

The council reviewed a new recommendation regarding the re-keying of the buildings.  The Facilities committee now feels that the main church does not need to be re-keyed.  The main concern is with Friendship Hall.  We have been renting this facility to many outside organization over the years and it is really time to change the locks.  In addition to changing the locks we will now require a deposit for keys to parties renting the space.
